No Less

The No Less project

The No Less project, at the beginning, was developed as a unit of 74 works of the same name exhibition in the summer 2014 at the Kunsthalle Eurocenter Lana, an area which is a part of the exhibition spaces of the Kunst Merano Arte, Bozen, Italy. The solo exhibition, curated by Camilla Martinelli, took up 400 mq of an industrial space totally empty which had particular lighting features and interesting architectural elements.

The original idea was about constructing a free exhibition path, irreducible to a univocal thematic mediation, where the variety of different relationships between the depicted images could be revealed and could be suitable for increase the interpretative possibilities. In particular, I wanted to develop the relationship working on variations, repetitions and lists of several subjects and themes belonging to just begun series and those already launched as Anima and The Favorite Cousin. I organised the setting of the show in groups of works where cavers, pearl divers, lovers or acrobats – all risk’s representations – could interact with subjects already experienced as landscapes, hands, color tables or figures in a state of hypnosis.

From the executive point of view the No Less project seeks the emphasis on the transparent and intangible qualities of the painted image. I expanded on this essential attitude developing paintings as an elementary result of the drawing dimension, working on the synthesis of the profiles, using the least possible layer of color and the beauty of raw canvas. To sum up, I tried to combine the material and sensory painting’s qualities with the pure clarity of the drawing. LR
